Chirba Chirba Dumpling
We are excited to bring you an Asian street fare food truck specializing in Chinese dumplings. After years of dumpling studies through extensive tasting, pleating, and learning secret family recipes, we have developed a menu that we think you’ll love.
The Chirba Chirba Dumpling Story | Once upon a time, there were 4 friends who loved to make and eat dumplings. After many trips to foreign lands where much delicious street food was discovered (and eaten), the 4 friends decided to bring their favorite dumplings to the streets to share with all from a food truck. Late night dumpling pleating parties have turned into inventive taste-testing and dumpling folding sessions at The Cookery.

Sage and Swift
Sage and Swift is a small, family run business in Durham, NC. Professionally trained chef Amy Tornquist started the company in 1993 after studying and working in Paris for 3 years. She and her husband, Jeremy Kerman, run the business today and their daughter Lizzie is often in the office “cooking” with her toy pots. Amy’s mother Elizabeth helps out in the office and often meets with clients. Our commitment to delighting clients is at the core of everything we do. Our menus reflect an exciting combination of the traditional and the new. We have prepared every kind of food imaginable, from light vegetarian hors d’oeuvres to rich desserts, from old-fashioned southern picnic dishes to elaborate multi-course French dinners. We want every dish to be exceptional.
We are a small team of cooks who are as passionate about food as you are. We bring the spirit of surprise and delight from our pop-up dinners to each of our private events -- the food is whimsical, but approachable; inspired, yet deeply personal. For us, each menu highlights the best ingredients sourced from our network of around 25 local farms resulting in over 90% of our food costs going back into the local food system.
Throughout the process, you will be working directly with our executive chef, from crafting a totally personalized menu based on the produce that will be in season to overseeing the event itself. And we never commit to more than one event per day, so you always have our undivided attention.
What’s most important to us is creating truly unique experiences marked by uncommonly delicious food that tells your story.

Two Roosters Ice Cream
On the porch of a piedmont farmhouse in North Carolina. That's where it all started, beneath the watch of Granny's two black wooden roosters. In the southern summers my family would gather on Sundays for a day of rest and re-connection. And ice cream. Neighbors would come over to share bounty from their garden for the next batch and sit a spell. We would sit for hours talking, laughing, story-swapping and painfully yet lovingly taking turns on that ole rock salt machine. We kids lived for that exact moment of approval when the slurry turned to scoops, our arms no longer fit for the churning, and the reward for our deeds became the epitome of happiness.
Granny's house is no longer there, and the rock salt machine has too much rust. But the love, intrigue, and passion for ice cream has bloomed over the years, just like that hand-churned batch of fresh peaches and cream. Our awareness and appreciation for seasonal harvests and skilled purveyors is a nod to our shared history. The new neighbors are local farmers, brewers, bakers, chocolate makers, tea merchants, and food artisans. We invite you come to our porch and experience all that North Carolina has to offer. And by all means, sit a while.
